Greetings!
New Bedford's Working Waterfront Festival will be held Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29. The WWF celebrates the "real thing", New Bedford's working harbor and of course the oldest fishing vessel in the harbor, fishing since 1894, Effie M. Morrissey. This famous Arctic explorer, this beloved Cape Verdean packet and exciting sea-going educator, Massachusetts Official Tall Ship, our own Ernestina ex. Effie M. Morrissey, will be in the center of the action in her berth at State Pier.
This year we will need MORE volunteers to help the Ernestina Commission Programming Committee and DCR host the dignitaries for the Blessing of the Fleet on Sunday AND three "Story Times" with children's authors Daisy Nell, Janie Meneely and Meghan Lapp, AND public deck tours on both days.
The WWF has been a great all-hands-on-deck opportunity to tell Ernestina's story. Last year we had many visitors despite the less-than-pleasant weather. Please join the Ernestina "crew" and volunteer for two hours to help tell the thousands of visitors to the Festival how important Ernestina ex Effie M Morrissey is to you and to Massachusetts. Please share this message and ask your friends to join the "crew"!
