Dr. Susan DeHoff's sermon is "Treasure of a Lifetime" based on Luke 12.13-21. Labor Day is a time when we think about those whose work benefits us in some way, whether those workers are paid laborers or volunteer workers. It is also a day when we think about that for which we labor; why do we do what we do? More pointedly, why do we Christians do what we do? Surely the answer involves purposes in addition to earning money to buy more stuff, necessary or unnecessary to life. On this Labor Day Sunday we will pause to consider the connection between our labor and our treasure. During our lives, in one way or another, most people engage in storing up treasure. At the end of our lives we have a lifetime of treasure, but in the end, just what is that treasure?

Start-Up Sunday Picnic
September 8th
Mark your calendars for Start-Up Sunday and come celebrate the end of our summer schedule with a picnic following worship. Leaders will be on hand to let you know about education, outreach, and group opportunities as well. This is a great time to invite newcomers to come get to know us! Sign-up online or on sheet in the lobby for the cookout.

September 14th, 9:00am
We need items for our yard sale. The proceeds benefit Youth MIssions. Donations can be dropped off at the church. We also need volunteers to help the day before and the day of the sale. All of the details can be found online along with a sign-up form here.

LCP Gift Collection
We are collecting gifts to send to the LCP community. We are thankful each year for the generosity of the PCIS community. The deadline for dropping off gifts is September 15th. The list of recommended items to donate and detailed instructions can be found here.

Ever wish you could get up and walk around during the worship service? Like to collect money (even if you can't keep it)? Know the difference between feedback and a stuck organ key? Well have we got an opportunity for you. After many years of service, Dan Coffin has decided to give up being head usher for the first service. The duties involve opening up the building and getting ready for the service through cleaning up after the first service. Morning. God, in the freshness of the new day, help us to retain clarity of vision so that we might seek the honor of your kingdom rather than the honor of the world. Sustain us throughout the day so that we might return filled by the grace of your spirit. Amen
Evening. God of compassion, help us to release the regrets of the day into your care. Refresh us in our sleep, that we may rise in the morning confident in your love and strengthened in our faith. Amen
