Pride Kickoff Social

 

 

    

 

Members of several LGBT organizations, including AGLA, are converging at the spacious and comfortable Pinzimini Lounge in Ballston on Friday, June 7, from 6-8 p.m. for a social. The lounge is inside The Westin Arlington Gateway, 801 N. Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22203, directly across the hotel lobby. See a map.

 

You and all your friends are welcome. AGLA Board Member TJ Flavell will be there to greet you and hand you a name tag.

  

Meet fabulous people from all over the DC metro area. You are welcome regardless of where you live. Bring a friend, and meet new people No cover charge. Please join us as at this spacious lounge venue.

 

The Westin Arlington Gateway is conveniently located two city blocks from the Ballston Metro and parking is available at the Ballston Mall. ($1 parking for up to 3 hours.) Or park for free on the street. This social is hosted by NoVA Gay and Lesbian Professionals. For excitement, look forward to meeting and mingling with members of various community groups. Let's all celebrate Pride!

 

As community service, if you can, please bring along travel-sized unused soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. for A-SPAN (http://www.a-span.org), which provides life-sustaining services for Arlington's street homeless. Or clean out your cupboard of unused nonperishable food items for AFAC (http://www.afac.org), the community leader in providing and promoting dignified access to nutritious food for all Arlingtonians in need. The social will serve as a convenient collection point.

Pride Festivities!



The annual Capital Pride parade steps off on Saturday, June 8 at 4:30 p.m. The parade will travel through Dupont Circle and 17th Street and end in the Logan Circle neighborhood of northwest Washington, DC. AGLA's parade entry will include a walking contingent throwing mardi gras beads to parade goers and two convertibles - one with Miss Gay Arlington 2013 and the other with Miss AGLA 2012, Muffy Blake Stephyns. We can't make AGLA Pride really proud without you! Come out for this event that has received City Paper's "Best of" Award for Best Parade 4 years in a row! The annual Capital Pride Festival will once again take place on historic Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, in front of our national capitol. Over 200,000 people will come to this event which takes place on Sunday, June 9, 2012 from Noon - 7 p.m. Come for a day full of entertainment, music, food, drink, education, and celebration. The festival is open to everyone, and while a $5 donation is encouraged, there is no fee for entry. The festival is family friendly, however due to large crowds and very hot asphalt, we recommend that 4-legged family members (pets) stay at home.
