The City of West Hollywood presents the photographic exhibition Rock 'n' Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip by photographer Robert Landau at the West Hollywood Library. The artist's talk on August 10 will explore the history behind the billboards from an era when rock was the most important music ever recorded; when youth, politics, and art merged to turn counterculture into mainstream culture. Opera Talk: The Mad Men and Women of Opera

Join us as opera expert Louis Berstein discusses and shows excerpts from some of the best mad scenes in opera, including those of Ophelia in Ambroise, Thosas's Hamlet, as well as the mad characters in Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Benamin Britten's Peter Gribes. "The Solar House: Pioneering Sustainable Design" (Publisher: Rizzoli, 2013) is a lecture, visual presentation and book signing by author, architect and educator, Tony Denzer. The program is a unique look at solar sustainability and the history of modern architecture. The program will provide a new perspective on the topic for architects and designers, environmentalists, historians and anyone interested in popular culture. Tony Denzer's book offers the opportunity to view the solar house in a whole new way as he traces the origins of the solar house back to its roots in the modern architecture movement of the 1930's -1960's.
