Attendees were also able to discover innovative programs and funding available throughout California to assist businesses and increase jobs and interact with leaders in business, government and education.

Ventura County is increasingly known as a place that provides a wonderful work-life balance. Garden Fresh Tours Limoneira

In September, Buyers and Marketing Personnel from Garden Fresh visited Limoneira to learn about the Company's sustainable practices and gather film footage for upcoming marketing campaigns. Limoneira lemons are used in a variety of delicious dishes at the company's Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes restaurants. Our visitors toured Limoneira's Packing House, Visitor's Center and lemon and A
avocado orchards and enjoyed an al fresco lunch at Limoneira's bocce courts.

The very first Souplantation brought delicious, healthy dining to San Diego in March 1978. Industry experts credit the company as being the first casual eatery brand to serve fresh, wholesome menu options.

In 1983, Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp. was founded through the acquisition of the first two Souplantation restaurants. As the company continued to grow, they began to pursue growth beyond their core Southern California markets. In order to enhance their brand and reflect their dedication to fresh, wholesome ingredients, they adopted the name Sweet Tomatoes for new restaurants outside Southern California. The company now owns 128 restaurants in 15 states and has served over 300 million guests since 1978.
5 Surprising Foods Doctors Swear By

Follow the lead of top nutrition experts with this roundup of the five foods doctors swear by, inspired by my new book of healthy food swaps, Eat It to Beat It:

1. Greek yogurt: Gerard Mullin, M.D., director of the Johns Hopkins Integrative GI Nutrition Services and author of "The Inside Tract: Your Good Gut Guide to Great Digestive Health" Greek yogurt for palatability, satiation and protein content. Yogurt is also great for feeding the good bugs that live in your intestine, which improves the health of your microbiome, the community of microorganisms that live in your body. More and more research is pointing to probiotics as an effective treatment for weight management and obesity. It's amazing that feeding the good bugs actually helps people lose weight. Organic, grass-fed yogurt is best because you are getting a better omega fatty acid profile. When animals are fed corn they produce dairy with more omega-6s, but grass-fed animals produce dairy with more healthy omega-3s.

2. Chickpeas: David L. Katz, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P.M., F.A.C.P., director of the Yale University Prevention Research Center and author of "Disease Proof" Chickpeas. They are, of course, a nutritional powerhouse like most legumes. They are a good protein source, and I especially like turning to chickpeas for protein so I don't need to eat meat. They have figured in the human diet since the very dawn of civilization, so they are nice connection to our ancestral roots. And they figure as well in some of my favorite cuisines from the Middle East. I love good hummus!

3. Dark, leafy greens: Donald D. Hensrud, M.D, M.P.H., chair of the Division of Preventive, Occupational, and Aerospace Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and author of "The New Mayo Clinic Cookbook." For me the best food is dark greens, such as arugula, spinach, and lettuces. They are very low in calories, very high in nutrients, and can be prepared in a variety of ways that taste great -- many different types of salads, pasta dishes, lasagna, sandwiches, pesto, soups, or even a spinach pie! Locally in the summer is best and I always feel good about eating them, there's no downside.

4. Eggs: Robert Lustig, M.D., M.S.L., director of the Weight Assessment for Teen and Child Health (WATCH) Program at the University of California, San Francisco, president of the nonprofit Institute for Responsible Nutrition, and author of "The Fat Chance Cookbook" Eggs! They have lots of high quality protein, especially tryptophan. Protein is satiating, and also you spend more energy converting it to a metabolite that can be burned, which aids in weight management. Eggs got a bad rap in the 1980s because of the cholesterol in the yolk. But it does not raise the small dense LDL, which is the atherogenic particle [the one that forms plaques in your arteries]. Eggs are great by themselves, with many different ways of preparation, or they can be added to foods easily.

5. Avocados: Taz Bhatia, M.D., assistant professor at Emory University in Preventive/Integrative Medicine, director of the Atlanta Center for Holistic and Integrative Medicine, and author of "What Doctors Eat." I swear by avocados! The heart-healthy unsaturated fat in a delicious serving of avocado helps me stay full, which keeps me from snacking too much. Avocados are packed with vitamins C, K and B6 and they contain pre- and probiotics -- keeping my gut healthy!
Limoneira Water Bottles And Oranges Provide Runner Respite On The Ancient Trail Of The Southern Mammoths

This past September, the Moorpark Mammoth Run provided a scenic, healthy workout for runners on the ancient trail of the Southern Mammoths through the beautiful rolling hills of Moorpark. The challenging USATF (USA Track and Field) sanctioned 5K/10K course took runner's breath away. Limoneira water bottles and oranges provided refreshment and reinforced the happy healthy event branding. The race was named after a five-ton mammoth discovered in Moorpark and now at home at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.

Her work experience while in school consists of customer relations, store management, website development and online selling as well.

5 Fabulous Fruits For Gorgeous Skin

A recent Huffington Post article, noted that we all know that everyone says you are what you eat, and this is especially true when it comes to your skin. The bad news is that sugary foods apparently lead to the production of molecules that can age your skin. But there are plenty of other tasty foods that are good for you such as Lemons.

Not only can lemons fight against throat infections, indigestion and constipation, and a whole bunch of other troubling health issues, they also can help remove wrinkles and blackheads. The vitamin C in lemons boosts collagen production while the citric acid helps treat acne and pimples. In Mexico, women create a scrub by mixing sugar and lemon juice together. The sugar crystals act as an exfoliant and the lemon juice contains alpha hydroxy acid, found in many anti-aging treatments, which helps remove dead skin cells. (Just make sure you rinse well before you go out in the sun!)

Santa Paula, California Highlighted As One Of The Favorite Destinations For Pilots To Fly In "The Town Time Forgot"

"A September 17th article by the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association highlighted a number of reasons that Santa Paula is a favorite destination for pilots (and non pilots).

As you fly in to Santa Paula, you'll see rolling hills and valleys, mostly covered in citrus and avocado orchards, like the California of old. The airport evokes an old-time airfield, complete with antique airplanes dating back almost a century. Just two blocks away, tiny downtown is replete with buildings erected a century ago, now restored and protected as landmarks. Santa Paula's museums take you back to the rise of California's amazingly productive agriculture and back to when oil was first discovered here, powering the local economy and spurring the era of the automobile.

Santa Paulans are actually proud of their airport; such community pride in an airport is rare these days. A monthly old-fashioned fly-in features antique airplanes and cars and provides an opportunity to meet other pilots, or you can fly in any time for a good meal at the airport restaurant, Flight 126. Santa Paula Airport is also home to CP Aviation, where you can take an aerobatic flight, learn aerobatics, or complete their revolutionary Emergency Maneuver Training to acquire skills that could save your life should you ever encounter an unexpected upset....
