Clinical and Translational Science Training Program Accepting Applications

The CCTS is accepting applications for the Clinical and Translational Science (CTS) Training Program. The application deadline is Monday, November 15, 2014.  Junior faculty and postdoctoral fellows who are interested in an academic career in clinical and translational research are invited to apply.

The CTS Training Program is a six-month certificate program that includes approximately 50 hours of didactic instruction and interactive experience.  Our program provides additional training in clinical and translational research over a six-month period (January to June) with class on Wednesday mornings, 8-10 am. Videoconference access is available for those away from UAB.

Course content represents the following modules: Clinical Trials, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Ethics, Clinical Genetics Research, Behavioral Research, Outcomes Research, Dissemination of Results, and Grant Writing and Funding Opportunities.

Trainees from Partner Network institutions may attend via videoconference from institutions outside driving range to UAB.

All of the sessions are presented by experienced clinical and translational researchers or individuals with special expertise in areas such as grants and contracts and regulatory issues.  Preceptors include faculty and research staff from across the Partner Network.

Check out the CCTS Funding Opportunities page on our website.

We list

the latest research funding announcements, updated weekly, including these newest listings:

2015 NSF Major Research Instrumentation Program
NIH Director's Early Independence Awards

NSF has announced the 2015 Major Research Instrumentation Program (http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2015/nsf15504/nsf15504.pdf).
UAB may submit up to 3 applications, each requesting $100K-$4M, and in the event that 3 are submitted (any applications for which UAB is included as a "significantly funded" subawardee counts as 1), one of them must be an instrumentation development application.

We anticipate that more than 3 individuals/groups at UAB will be interested in applying. For that reason, we will conduct an internal competition.

In order to allow sufficient time for an internal review, and to give the successful PIs as much time to write the proposal as possible, please submit a 3 page summary of the project with a separate page detailing plans for matching support (30% of total costs) and a biosketch of the PI(s)by COB on November 10th to Kent Keyser, Assistant VP for Research , Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development: ktkeyser@uab.edu.
