SB 354, which would prevent the use of gas chambers in animal shelters, unanimously passed in the Michigan Senate last fall, yet still awaits a hearing and vote in the House Committee on Local Government.
The current legislative session ends in two weeks, on December 18. If the bill has not passed by then, it will die and will need to be re-introduced in next year's session.
Please call the committee chair, Rep. Amanda Price, at 517-373-0838 and ask her NOT to let that happen!
Additionally, the following Senators clearly thought it was important enough to sign on as a bill co-sponsor. If your Senator is included in this list, please also ask him or her to contact Rep. Price to find out what the holdup is.
Rick Jones, Tory Rocca, Glenn Anderson, John Proos, James Marleau, John Pappageorge, Mike Nofs, Jim Ananich, Steve Bieda, Jack Brandenburg, Tom Casperson, Bruce Caswell, Judith Emmons, Goeffrey Hansen, David Hildenbrand, Morris Hood, Hoon-Yung Hopgood, Joe Hune, Roger Kahn, Michael Kowall, John Moolenaar, David Robertson, Tonya Schuitmaker, Virgil Smith, and Rebekah Warren.
Not sure if one of these is your Senator? Find out here.
