Letter from the Personnel Committee
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Fellow Members of the PCC Family -
Recently the Tri-Board met and had a conversation about the past and future of the church. Many concerns were raised about past events, and many questions were asked about our future. It was decided to call in the UCC for some objective help. To that end, the Personnel Committee met with The Rev David Popham, Associate Conference Minister for our UCC region. We explained to David much of what the church has been through in recent years. Because we value everyone's opinion, David has agreed to meet with anyone who would like to speak to him. After these discussions, he will send us a report about what he was told.
We are inviting anyone in the congregation who wishes to talk to David about their feelings about PCC to do so. David will be available in the church parlor for these conversations on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 9 am until noon, and on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 3 pm until 7 pm. If you wish to speak with him, please call him at 973-748-7772 to schedule a time slot. (If you get voice mail, please leave your name and number, and he will get back to you.) Each time slot will be 15 minutes.
Please take this opportunity to invest in PCC. The Tri-Board cannot guess what people are thinking and feeling about our church. We encourage as many people as possible to talk to David.
Sincerely,
Personnel Committee
Jim Ritter, Council and Personnel Chair
Lou Peters, Trustee Chair
Dominick Colotta, Deacon Chair
2015 Stewardship Results to Date/Offering Boxes Available at the End of December
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Stewardship Mailing has been sent to the congregation asking for your support of the 2015 Operating Budget. Please read the information carefully and give prayerful consideration to the way in which you choose to respond.

If you have not already done so, please return a pledge card so the Trustees can prepare a budget for next year. This is a lengthy process and requires that we know how much revenue to expect. Extra pledge cards are available on the table in the narthex.
Thank you!

Pledge envelopes will be available for pickup at the end of December.

Stewardship Results as of Sunday, December 7:

Campaign Goal: $225,000

Total Pledged: $156,361

% of total pledged: 69%

# pledge cards mailed: 227

# pledge cards returned: 81

 % of total returned: 36%

Note about pledge envelopes: The use of weekly pledge envelopes is very helpful to the counters so they can properly record donations received. However, if you received pledge envelopes last year and did not use them, or if you do not want to receive a box for 2015, please let our Financial Secretary, Jenn Nemetz, know. Also, if you did not receive a box in 2014 and would like one, please contact her so she can assign one. You can email Jenn at [email protected] or leave a note in the Church office by November 1st if you have any changes. Thank you.

Sign Up for the PCC "Secret Sisters" Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The PCC "Secret Sisters" program is a great opportunity to get to know other women in the church by "secretly treating them" throughout the year. This can include anything from greeting cards to small gifts or other thoughtful tokens as a way of acknowledging holidays, birthdays, celebrations and sorrows.
The program will run February 2015 through January 2016 when we will have a Secret Sister Unveiling Party.
Signup by Sunday, January 18, and you will receive information about your Secret Sister around February 1st - just in time to treat your Secret Sister to a Valentine's treat!
Sign up with Kim Depetris with the following information:
Name, Address, phone number, people in your family
Important dates - birthdays, anniversaries, etc. (good and bad)
Some information about yourself: favorite activities, favorite colors, types of books you like to read, favorite snack foods - the more your secret sister knows the more personalized she can get!
Also be sure to add any celebrations and prayer concerns for yourself and your family!
Finally let us know 1-2 friends or relatives that could be a source of information or a person to help deliver treats (don't forget to include a phone number!)
There are 3 ways to share the information:
1 - email the information to Kim Depetris at [email protected]
2 -  write/type out and mail to Kim Depetris at 120 Chestnut Drive, Wayne
3 - I will be in Simmons Hall during December and January with forms you can complete
Please join us as we care for each other throughout the year in this very special way.
Counter Needed for June 2015 and Insurance Liaison Needed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Trustees are looking for a volunteer to serve as a Counter after worship on Sunday morning during the month of June 2015.

The Trustees are also looking for someone with experience in the insurance industry to serve as a Liaison between the insurance companies with which we do business. Such a volunteer would be asked to help us understand our policies and to address any questions or issues that may arise throughout the year.

If you are interested in serving our church in either of these ways, please contact Lou Peters at [email protected]. Thank you!
Angels Calling Charitable Gift Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Throughout the year, the PCC "Angels Calling" Program has strived to turn our "hearts and minds toward the One who has called us to serve."  We have joined together to care for others with needs. Did you know that the support of Wayne families has touched lives of a diverse group of people, including: newborns through grandparents; single parents; those with disabilities; unemployed with determination to work; those strapped for childcare; those having difficulty meeting rent and car repair payments; and a family whose flood zone home was bought out, and now is faced with renting rather than owning a home.
The Wayne families have received clothing, food, home goods, toys/games, school supplies, diapers and other baby items from our church members. In addition to periodically providing these items at holiday or seasonal times, Angels Calling has responded to emergency needs in between. The program has also provided emergency food support during a crisis situation to other families in the Wayne area.
In addition, Angels Calling is looking ahead to the Thanksgiving season and would like to gather food items specific to family needs. For instance, paper products, school snacks, nonperishable items for dinners, clean up items, and more. Gift cards for a food store or Walmart can be put toward this goal. Your donation makes a difference and will certainly be appreciated by our Wayne families!
Donated items can be dropped off on the stage in Simmons Hall. Cash contributions can be mailed to the church office or mailed directly to Leslie Mozulay at 8 Old Fourth Drive, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. Checks made payable to "Packanack Community Church" with a MEMO indicating Angels Calling, always make a difference! If you'd like to personalize your donation for a specific child, please contact Leslie Mozulay at 551-795-1453. Thank you to all of you supporting Angels Calling, a caring community outreach program.
Rotation Model Sunday School Continues!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rotation #2 continues the theme of God's Covenant Promises with the stories of...

The Call of Moses and Isaiah foretells of the Messiah

Exodus 2:24 & 3:7-10 Isaiah 9:17, 11:1-9

Each Sunday through January 25

Parent Participation: Help to bring the story home by re-reading it with your child. A good children's Bible with colorful pictures is a great way to enjoy some story time together! After reading the story try asking some open-ended questions to get the conversation going, like...

"Why do you think that is?" or "How does that make you feel?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each month, a group of volunteers is needed to assist the office staff with collating the Bell newsletter, stuffing the envelopes, and getting it in the mail. It's a great opportunity to do a little work for the church, make some new friends, and have some fun at the same time.
There is no Bell Helpout Date in December. The next Bell Helpout Date is Tuesday, January 20, at 10:00am in Room 10.
If you can join us, please contact Kerry at [email protected] to let her know you are coming. Thank you for your assistance.
Plan Ahead for the Bell Deadline
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please note that, due to administrative changes in the church office and delivery delays at the post office, the monthly Bell newsletter has a firm deadline for any announcements that the congregation may wish to place in it. Announcements and flyers received after that date will not be included until the following month. If you would like to let the congregation know about an upcoming event, please plan ahead and make sure that you submit the announcement on time.
