Car Cruise Celebrates Henry Ford's 50th Birthday Anniversary - The Friends of Nankin Mills are hosting a historic car cruise on Saturday, July 20th from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.  The cruise will start at the Henry Ford Retirement Village and end at Nankin Mills, located at 33175 Ann Arbor Trail.  Visitors will have the opportunity to view over one hundred Model A, Model T and older cars and enjoy a great dinner prepared by Chef Tony of the William D. Ford Career Technical Center.  Car Show ONLY tickets are $10/adult, $5/10-17 years of age and 9 years and under are free.  Car Show and Dinner tickets are $20/adult, $15/10-17 years of age and $6/9 years old and under. 

 

Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location.

 

-The Rehabilitation Review Board will meet on Tuesday, July 23rd at 4:30 p.m. at the Dorsey Center, located at 32715 Dorsey.

-Meeting of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will be held on Thursday, July 25th at 8:00 a.m. in the City Hall Council Conference Room.  

 

Worried about Identity Theft? - The Westland Friendship Center, located at 1119 N. Newburgh, will have an industrial shredder on site on Friday, July 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for residents to have their documents shredded and disposed of.  Drive up your bags or boxes of documents, 3 bag/box maximum, and watch them be shredded for FREE.  For more information, please call 734-722-7628.

 

Parkside Credit Union Hosts Car Show - Parkside Credit Union will be hosting their 8th Annual Classic Car Show benefiting the Lyman Foundation.  The car show will take place on Saturday, July 27th from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Westland Shopping Center, located at 35000 West Warren Rd.  The event will give the community an opportunity to showcase their classic cars and enjoy fun with friends and family while benefiting a charitable cause.

 

Westland Farmer's Market Held Every Thursday - The Westland Farmer's Market will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. every Thursday in the City Hall Parking Lot, located at 36601 Ford Road.  This is the ultimate site for farmers, growers and producers to sell their own products directly to the public.  Residents now have the opportunity to catch a FREE ride to the market at the following locations and times. *All times are approximate and dependent on weather, traffic, available space, etc.

Cyclists, Skaters, Runners & Walkers Enjoy Hines Park Traffic Free - Saturday's in the Park have returned to Hines Drive and offers visitors the opportunity to walk, run, skate or cycle safely from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. without the concern of motor vehicle traffic.  Hines Drive will be closed every Saturday from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive through September 8, 2013.  For more information, please call (734) 261-1990 or visit www.parks.waynecounty.com.

 

Save the Dates - Mayor Wild will be holding his first community gathering of the summer on August 8th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Corrado Park located on Gladys at Flamingo.  Bring the family and enjoy free water slides, water activities, dunk tank and more. Get Your Tickets to the Kelly Miller Circus - The Kelly Miller Circus is coming to Attwood Park, located at 33601 Annapolis, on Saturday, August 10 for two shows, one at 2 p.m. and one at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets are now on sale at the following locations, Wayne Westland Community Center, Mark Chevrolet, Jack Demmer Ford, Henry's Service Center, Wayne-Westland Federal Credit Union and the Westland Municipal Golf Course.
