Last minute gift ideas help RideAble, too!
Searching for that perfect gift for those 'hard to buy for' folks? Thinking of ways you can give back during the holiday season? Consider "shopping" at RideAble and you'll accomplish both! Choose from adult or child-sized RideAble sweatshirts, and some wonderful limited-edition wool blankets donated by Karen Brack.

These  "RideAble 20th Anniversary" commemorative blankets (see anniversary, below) come in three colors and patterns and are decorated with the RideAble logo and 20th anniversary embroidered patch on the back.

Check the website for details on these and other ways to automatically donate to RideAble while doing your holiday shopping, online at Amazon.com or at your local Fred Meyer stores (donations are made by the company).
ShortFall Campaign a huge success, thanks to our wonderful supporters.
This fall we launched our ShortFall Campaign to keep abreast of ongoing facility and program costs. Because you value this program and thanks to your donations of time, creativity and financial support, we were able to meet our goal of raising
$15,000 in about six weeks!

Through various small fundraisers we generated nearly $10,000, and in November we received a separate generous donation of $5,000, which brought us to our goal.
Because our program costs are high year round and we strive to keep fees down for our students, we are always in fundraising mode. Donations of any size-or of your time, see below-are appreciated anytime, via check or the Donate with Paypal button on our website.

Thank you again for your appreciation and crucial support of this program.
Save the date and help us celebrate
RideAble's 20th Anniversary!
RideAble is proud to announce our 20th year of operation in 2015! Our celebration of this amazing milestone will be ongoing throughout the year, but mark your calendars for the weekend of August 22 and 23, 2015. We'll have a volunteer get-together on Saturday, and Sunday we will host a big celebration for everyone who has been involved with the program from original founders, board members, sponsors, volunteers, students, and family members and friends that have been impacted by the program.

Through the unrelenting dedication of everyone mentioned above, RideAble has been able to sustain this important program for two decades. Please plan to join us, and pass the word to others as this will be an opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about RideAble to come out to the barn. And don't forget to purchase a RideAble 20th Anniversary Commemorative Blanket as a souvenir!
Gentle giant Bud moves to greener pastures
One of the barn's favorite horses, Bud, will be leaving RideAble and returning to his owner's care. Due to some recent health issues, he will return to a more leisurely life to relax and recoup.

Bud, a Haflinger Belgian cross, was dubbed the "gentle giant" and is loved by all of his riders. Stories about Bud include him licking a student's face when they met; another student described Bud as a 'dog in a horse suit.'

Bud will be missed, but we wish him the best and hope he enjoys his much deserved break.
Make 2015 your year to get involved with RideAble
Have you ever wondered how the RideAble organization works and how decisions are made? Want to use your talents to ensure that it keeps going? Perhaps being a member of the RideAble Board of Directors is what you're looking for!

Yes, the RideAble Board is in need of additional directors. At monthly meetings we receive updates on the financial status, review plans for events and fundraisers, make operational decisions, and develop a strategy for the future. No specific skills are necessary-all you need is a desire to help RideAble succeed! If Board service is not what you are looking for but you want to help in another way, two committees (Fundraising and Communication/Media) have been formed to focus on specific issues important to RideAble.

For more information: contact Steve Somnitz, Board President, at 541-206-0283. Or attend a Board meeting to see it for yourself. We meet the first or second Thursday of the month at the Symantec building in the Gateway area of Springfield from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Our first meeting of the New Year is January 8. Remember, donating a small amount of your time can make a huge impact on our mission at RideAble.
