 A MESSAGE FROM
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Season's Greetings,

Sunny days and snow covered lawns ~ a great way to begin December. Businesses and homes are beautifully decorated in holiday style, and the Kennebunk and Kennebunkport holiday trees are majestic and cheerful. What a picture-perfect setting to get us all in the mood for the holidays and a nice segue to Kennebunkport's popular Christmas Prelude.

Christmas Prelude begins this week, with many events on tap! Some hotels and inns still have vacancies, and the Chamber is here to help your friends and family find a room! I want to take this opportunity to thank the Kennebunkport Business Association, and all of its participating businesses, for creating a magical experience for all of us who live here and for those who travel from afar to experience what we call home! Check out the official Christmas Prelude website  for detailed information on tree lightings, activities, events, parades, business events and more.

Our Annual Holiday Auction was a great success. We thank ALL businesses who donated items, packages, experiences and more to help make our auction a success, give area businesses more visibility and to give bidders an opportunity to buy these and support the Chamber's programs and services.

Browse through the newsletter, we have exciting happenings in December. The Chamber is hosting another Business Seminar, this month on the Better Business Bureau, as well as the final 2014 Business After Hours, which doubles as a holiday celebration. Read on for the details about the upcoming "Paint the Town Red" campaign in February!

As always, with an open-door philosophy, the Chamber welcomes you to stop by. We would love to hear from you. If you have ideas, concerns, or need help navigating through business resources and information, feel free to call me or set up a time to meet. I am more than happy to help.

Best regards,

Denise M. Clavette, Executive Director

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS IS DEC. 10

Please join us next Wednesday, December 10, for the Chamber's annual holiday Business After Hours at Kennebunk Savings. Whether you've been naughty or nice this year, we promise light fare and spirits, networking for all - and for all a good night! Tickets at the door are for $5/members and $10/guests.

JOIN THE HOLIDAY FUN

Now in its 33rd year, Christmas Prelude has become one of the most cherished ways to celebrate the holiday. Over the first two weekends of December, there are multiple tree lightings, a hat parade, a pooch parade, "Fire & Ice," gingerbread house making, and Christmas caroling - something for everyone! Be sure to join your friends and family, and see why the festivities have been ranked #2 in the country for Christmas celebrations!

      BUSINESS SEMINAR SERIES CONTINUES

Learn all about the Better Business Bureau and its role in enforcing ethical business practices for the last 112 years at this month's Business Seminar Series. It will be held from 6 to 7:30 PM Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the Chamber office. Amy Schram, Senior Community Outreach specialist, will identify the major "red flags" regarding recent scams and the precautionary steps we can take to protect ourselves from falling victim. Cost is $5 for Chamber members / $10 for non-members; call the Chamber at (207) 967-0857 to register.

HOST A BUSINESS AFTER HOURS IN 2015

Want to host a Business After Hours? The Chamber is now booking hosts and business partners for our monthly networking socials for 2015 on the third Wednesday of the month. The cost to host an event is $395. Local businesses may also participate in select Business After Hours as "business partners." Members pay a $50 fee to have a display table at the event.

If you are interested in hosting a Business After Hours or participating as a business partner, contact Dawn Brennan-Daly at 207-967-0857.

SAVE 15 CENTS PER GALLON OF GAS

Thanks to a new partnership with the Chamber and Cummings Market in Kennebunk, The Shell Fleet Plus Program is now available to all members. This new program offers 15 cents off per gallon as a rebate on a credit card - a simple and effective way to reduce fuel expenditures. Great for individuals and businesses, the security features and reporting tools included in the online account management system will make your business a safer and more efficient endeavor. Sign up by the end of December. For registration information, email [email protected].

HELP US PAINT THE TOWN RED

Looking ahead to February 2015, the Chamber invites you to be part of a new initiative to "Paint the Town Red" - a joint #lovekpt effort of the Kennebunkport Resort Collection and The Chamber to make our area "New England's Most Romantic Town". We hope to get all local businesses involved.  Decorate with white and red lights! Offer dining, lodging and retail deals! Let's get people to our area during the winter months. Call or email the Chamber to be involved.
