William Land Golf Course Play Day
Come play 9 holes at William Land Golf Course on Saturday, December 13!

This may be our last time in 2014 to play a fun scramble round of golf together.  Tee times will be starting at 11:57 a.m. and it costs $19.50 to walk, and $27.50 to ride ... if you have a Morton Golf Player Card, then you get 10% off and seniors get 20% off.

The practice facility will be available for us to warm up.  Samantha Clausen, the First Tee Director of Junior Golf will be there to answer any questions you may have.  After the round, please join us at the course's Mulligans Cafe' for some holiday cheer!

This is a Pay-at-the-course event, but we do need everyone to sign up so that we make sure that we have enough tee times and we can do the pairing.

Sign-ups on the EWGA Website are coming this weekend.
Holiday Potluck, White Elephant & LCR!!!  - December 14

What better way to go into the holiday season?

On Sunday, December 14 from 1 to 5 pm, Cindy Merrall has so kindly volunteered her home for our Holiday Affair.  We will playing the LCR game.  For those of you that do not know what LCR is, it is a dice game.  (Brief description: LCR, or Left Center Right is a very simple dice game for three or more players.  It is entirely a game of chance. You start with 3 dollar bills and if you get an L you give the person on left a dollar, etc until all dollars are in the middle.  Last one with dollars wins the pot.  Lots of fun, and no thinking.)

What to bring:

  1. Wrapped holiday decoration under $20 for the White Elephant exchange
  2. Potluck dish

If your last name starts with this letter you bring the following item.

  • A-F - Appetizer
  • G-M - Entree
  • N-S - Salads
  • T-Z - Dessert
3) Most importantly, dollar bills for LCR game.

Water, tea and soda will be provided.  If you'd like something else to drink, please bring your beverage of choice.

Please RSVP here, so we can get a headcount.

Are they crazy?  100 holes of golf in one day?
Charlotte Wells and Leslie Lang or "Team Langwell" are doing a "golf marathoner" in the inaugural "Sacramento Golf Marathon" on December 22nd at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.  The money raised will support the Morton Golf Foundation that is established and operated exclusively for charitable purposes.  Both Charlotte and Leslie are raising funds to help them with their "marathoner", so contact them if you can help.

Playing 100 holes is a LOT of golf on one of the shortest days of the year but maybe some of you will plan for watching them try it!
Camellia Cup Is Back!
Camellia Cup will be a nine-month long match play league beginning in March and ending in November that will play one day a month.  We are hoping to have four teams.  The number of people on a team will depend on how many people are interested.  Anyone with an established handicap index is welcome to sign up, but you must play to a 36 max course handicap.

You can sign up to be member of the team or just a sub.  We will be using this format to pick the 12 people to comprise our 2015 Cal Cup team which will be held at Rancho Canada in Carmel Valley on October 24 & 25, 2015.  The team needs to be announced by the beginning of September, so if you want to try out for Cal Cup donate that when you sign up.

The four captains are:
Marcia Whiting, Vicki Philpott, Leslie Lang and Charlotte Wells.
The captains will get together and pick their teams from those interested.  he league will be run by Kris Corbridge.  The format will be one month of two-person better ball, one month of foursomes (alternate stroke), and one month of singles.  This will rotate until all teams have played each other.

In order to make the Cal Cup team, you must play in at least four matches by the September deadline.  Points will be assigned to wins, ties, and losses.  If there's a tie for the last spots on the team, there will be an 18-hole match play playoff to determine the winner.  The 12 members of the Cal Cup team will pick their captain from among those who made the team.
