Let's Swap!

TPBP will host an ongoing  Artist Trading Card (ATC) Swap for our in-store shoppers.  ATCs are a fun way to share your art with other artists while also creating a collection of works from other artists.

Here's how the on-going swap will work:
  1.  When you visit the store, let me know that you'd like to swap ATCs and we will, it's that simple!
  2. We will limit the swap to once a month per person
If you are wondering what the heck an ATC is, follow this link for a definition, instructions and a video.

Dear Friends,

Our celebratory giveaway, mentioned in last week's newsletter and on our Facebook page, has been extended until Monday, July 8.

Welcome Isela Galvan, Youth Art Teacher

Recently we announced our first kids class, today, I'm excited to introduce Isela Galvan, our new Youth Art Teacher.  Isela will create a fun program for young artists and I can't wait to see her bloom at TPBP.  We will start announcing classes soon, but in the short term, here's a note from Isela...

Hello Everyone!

Isela 1   I am Isela Galvan and a new member of The Piece By Piece family. I have been personally chosen by the wonderful owner of TPBP, Bev Ybarra to be the youth art teacher for this great establishment! I am so excited to embark on this opportunity and inspire our youth right here in Niles.

I live in Stockton, CA and a mother of three boys. I have 2 cats. Fall is my favorite season. Halloween with a vintage flair is my favorite holiday!! I love the beach, especially Half Moon Bay(Hopefully, my future home one day!)I have 14 years of teaching experience with children from preschool to high school ages in the public and private schools. I was an Art Teacher for 3 years. Reading and language arts are my specialty and integrating art and creativity has been very beneficial for my students.

I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in graphic design from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. I worked for a design firm briefly and soon after pursued freelance, designing my own custom invitations for clients for 14 years. Art has always been my passion and I have never given up my dream of opening my own business. This has been my dream for 16 years. Hopefully one day it will become reality. My family and friends will always find me "busy" crafting or designing a new product.

My goal is to move to the East Bay area soon so I can to pursue my passion and expand my business. Currently I am a vendor at The Piece By Piece. I want to thank Beverly Ybarra whom I met at her first Trunk Show back in November 2012. She was the first crafty person I met in Fremont and since then she has inspired me and believes in my dream. She has opened many doors for me I am very grateful to her! Thank you to my family and the love of my life, Ron for all the support.

Currently I have shabby chic and French designs. I sew and hand craft most of my products. My goal is to develop a new invitation line for 2014 and custom ribbon, both inspired by vintage design.

I want to be an inspiration to the children who come to visit TPBP and have unique and fun projects available to them! I am passionate for children and their success. Creativity sparks the imagination, makes education fun, and heals the mind and soul. Children must be allowed to express their talents in their own unique way. Art is therapeutic, builds confidence, heals pain, rehabilitates, and is essential to academic success and fine motor development. Art is fun because there is so much freedom of self-expression.

Dr. Hunter Patch Adams is a unique individual whom I admire a lot and has inspired me for many years. I believe in his philosophy of tapping in humor, fun, creativity, and compassion into the well-being of children. He is a healer and gives from the heart. I have shared his passion with my students over the years. I want to offer this to my future students in Niles.

I look forward to a bright future with your children and I look forward to making new friends here at TPBP. Thank you to the customers at TPBP who have purchased my products. It is my pleasure to create something unique for you!

Fondly,

Isela

Mini Book by Joanne Cheng
Jo
Joanne did a wonderful job filling her lovely mini album with trim and resin pieces from TPBP.  We especially enjoy how she deconstructs our trims to give them a unique look.

Shabby Chic Cards by Juliana Montoya
Juliana1

Juliana2Juliana applied her shabby chic style to a pair of cards that will be well received and loved by their recipients. The lesson here is that layering paper, ribbon, lace and resin pieces can create a couple of beauties.

The details can be found in her video and blog post:  Video Blog
