Cristina Fontanelli conquers Molfetta

The soprano, in Italy for the first time, offers excitement with her amazing voice

First everyone singing with her New York, New York, then final standing ovation on an emotional chord and with gratitude said, "Today for me is a dream come true." Concert - a true event - the other night, at the Diocesan Museum with the soprano Cristina Fontanelli, opera singer, very well- known and appreciated in the United States, originally from Molfetta. Her grandparents, Domenico De Candia and Eleanora La Grasta, left Molfetta at the end of the last century, to seek their fortune in America. Their story was told by the soprano between the performance of one piece and the other, while the large, standing-room only audience in the Great Hall of the Diocesan Museum listened spellbound.

After the presentation of the brilliant track record of the opera singer, Fontanelli delighted the audience spanning all musical repertoires from classical music to pop, from classical Neapolitan song accompanied by the tenor Aldo Bianchi, and on the piano, the teacher Vincenzo Cicchello .

With her lovely voice and undisputable stage presence performed among others "Volare," "West Side Story," "O sole mio", "That 's Amore," "O mio babbino caro" and "New York New York "as a tribute to the land that hosts it. For each piece she recounted anecdotes in Italian about her family, to which she is very attached, grandparents who lived in the old town of Molfetta, the wonderful voice of her mother, the meeting between her parents, to her experience in major theaters of America, Japan, Korea, Istanbul, Dubai and many others.

Indelible memories of her performance in front of two US presidents, as well as Broadway have left a mark. The intention of the soprano is to preserve the heritage of Italian music creating a musical lineup with the most representative songs of our land. Cristina Fontanelli's warm emotions she shared with the audience by involving them with her overwhelming charm. At the end of the concert, really excited, thankful words very affectionate to Roberto Pansini, a proponent of the initiative with partners who have made possible the concert.

The free concert was sponsored by Oll Muvi, an association that has also reported for Medimax, an initiative of the Puglia region, in collaboration with the School of Music Wagner, Molfetta Live, Association Molfetta in the World and the Diocesan Museum.

To bring his greetings and confirm its link with molfettesi around the world - took to the stage Monsignor Giuseppe De Candia also representing the association "Molfetta in the World" and Roberto Pansini Muvi to Oll and I Love Molfetta, who honored Cristina with a plaque and beautiful flowers. To the soprano was donated by Sebastian Pepper and Nicholas Giovine of Avangart snc,  a scarf artistic master of pop art Mark Loyola dedicated to the great Katharine Hepburn.
