Jewish Federation Helps Fund Entrepreneurs

The Jewish Agency for Israel, with the assistance of the Jewish Federations of North America, currently operates six Loan Funds around Israel. The Loan Fund Initiative provides entrepreneurs and small-business owners with the necessary capital for setting up a new business or expanding an existing venture.

In all of these Loan Funds, the repayment is spread over six years, out of which a grace period (interest payments only) of up to one year can be approved. The value of the loan is up to NIS 350,000, subject to the Loan Fund terms.

PHOTO EXHIBIT COMING TO FLINT

(stay tuned for details!)

The Greater Lansing Jewish Welfare Federation, in partnership with the Michigan State University Law School (and with generous funding by the Ravitz Foundation) is delighted to present the photo exhibit: It Takes a Village: From Gondar to Jerusalem at the MSU Law  School Atrium, 4th Floor, 648 N. Shaw Lane, East Lansing, Michigan.  The exhibit will continue in East Lansing until June 7 and then travel to Flint from June 10--June 21.  Details to be announced.

The exhibition recounts the resettlement of Ethiopians from Ethiopia to Jerusalem. The photos are striking and depict the traditional lifestyle that they left behind for life in a modern, high-tech, democratic society in Israel. Most of the Ethiopians emigrated from Ethiopia to Israel during two massive waves of immigration mounted by the Israeli government - "Operation Moses" in 1984 and then again during "Operation Solomon" in 1991. Recently, it has been estimated that Israel is now the home of about 140,000 citizens of Ethiopian descent who mostly reside in the smaller urban areas of central Israel.

Parking at meters ($1.50/hr) is available in the adjacent parking garage.  There is no other charge to attend
