Discovery Program Dinner & Silent Auction

Slice - 5th Annual Dinner on the Farm
Special Discount for CSA Members

On September 14th, 2013, the Live Earth Farm Discovery Program will host Slice, our 5th Annual Dinner on the Farm to support hands-on, farming programs for kids of all ages. We will celebrate Apples and Agriculture in the Pajaro Valley with local food, wine, live music, an auction and great company!  The outstanding Chefs Jonathan Miller of Eat Right at Home, and Rebecca Mastoris and Karen Haralson of Vibrant Foods Catering will tantalize your taste buds with a gourmet, multi-course meal featuring sustainable Monterey Bay area farms.  We are also pleased to present a children's program. Partake in farm fresh fare while together, we build the future of healthy children, farms and communities.
We would like to extend a special invitation to Live Earth Farm CSA Members to attend Slice on September 14th for a discounted price.  For two weeks - from July 30th to August 13th - CSA members will enjoy 10% off tickets to Slice.

Crop & Field Notes

A Farmer's Pleasures

It's a dance - I check on crops daily, sometimes even more often, to assess both quality and quantity to project and spread the harvest for our weekly commitments to the CSA, farmer's markets, and wholesale accounts.  A field-walk of course involves a lot of sampling, and right now there is a lot to snack on. At this time of year a field-walk will leave me stuffed with no need to go home to prepare lunch.

Farmers Market Pop-Up Breakfast

Join Farmer Tom
Sunday, August 3rd at Scotts Valley Market

Chef Kevin Koebel of Local Fatt and the new Half Moon Bay eatery Ground Up is known for his creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm when it comes to fresh, local produce. Sunday's meal will truly boast the bounty of peak season in our region, showing off a treasure trove of tomatoes, berries, greens and Monterey Bay caught fresh fish. A unique opportunity, Tom Broz of Live Earth Farm and Hans Haveman of H and H Fresh Fish will talk with guests during the event, providing a behind the scenes peak into the origins of the meal they sit down to eat.

Community Note

Workplace CSA

Convenience makes a big difference in today's busy world, so we are looking to expand our CSA program to include Workplace CSA locations.  Want to get your share delivered to your place of business?  We are seeking individuals in our community to become sponsors for Workplace CSA locations.  This could be as little as putting us in touch with the right person, to being the host of a location at your place of employment.
