The All American Cruise Comes to the "All American City" - Car enthusiasts are revved up for the 1st Annual All American Cruise that will be held on Saturday, July 13.  The cruise will take place on Wayne Road from Joy to Glenwood from noon - 6 p.m.

 

  • Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location:
  • - The Disability Concerns Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15 at the Friendship Center, located at 1119 Newburgh Road.
  • - The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board will meet on Monday, July 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the Assessing Conference Room, located at 36601 Ford Road.
  • - The Westland City Council will hold a Study Session to discuss updates on the new City Hall on Monday, July 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, located at 36601 Ford Road.
  • - The Westland City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located at 36601 Ford Road.
  • - The Westland Housing Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 at the Dorsey Center, located at 32715 Dorsey Road.
  • - The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will meet on Wednesday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, located at 36601 Ford Road.
  • - The Nankin Transit meeting will be held on Thursday, July 18 at 5:45 p.m. at the Nankin Transit Building, located at 37137 Marquette.

    Westland Farmer's Market Held Every Thursday - The Westland Farmer's Market will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. every Thursday in the City Hall Parking Lot, located at 36601 Ford Road.  This is the ultimate site for farmers, growers and producers to sell their own products directly to the public.  Residents now have the opportunity to catch a FREE ride to the market at the following locations and times. *All times are approximate and dependent on weather, traffic, available space, etc.

    Car Cruise Celebrates Henry Ford's 150th Birthday Anniversary - The Friends of Nankin Mills are hosting a historic car cruise on Saturday, July 20th from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.   The cruise will start at the Henry Ford Retirement Village and end at Nankin Mills, located at 33175 Ann Arbor Trail. Visitors will have the opportunity to view over one hundred Model A, Model T and older cars and enjoy a great dinner prepared by Chef Tony of the William D. Ford Career Technical Center.  Car Show ONLY tickets are $10/adult, $5/10-17 years of age and 9 years and under are free.  Car Show and Dinner tickets are $20/adult, $15/10-17 years of age and $6/9 years old and under. 

     

    Cyclists, Skaters, Runners & Walkers Enjoy Hines Park Traffic Free - Saturday's in the Park have returned to Hines Drive and offers visitors the opportunity to walk, run, skate or cycle safely from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. without the concern of motor vehicle traffic.  Hines Drive will be closed every Saturday from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive through September 8, 2013.  For more information, please call (734) 261-1990 or visit www.parks.waynecounty.com.

     

    Get Your Tickets to the Kelly Miller Circus - The Kelly Miller Circus is coming to Attwood Park, located at 33601 Annapolis, on Saturday, August 10 for two shows, one at 2 p.m. and one at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets are now on sale at the following locations, Wayne Westland Community Center, Mark Chevrolet, Jack Demmer Ford, Henry's Service Center, Wayne-Westland Federal Credit Union and the Westland Municipal Golf Course.
