City's
Water & Sewer Bond Rating Increases

Westland, MI - Moody's Investors Service has raised its bond rating for the City of Westland's Water and Sewer System revenue bonds from a Baa2 to A3, a vast improvement from previous years. Obligations rated 'A' are considered upper-medium grade and are subject to low credit risk.

The higher rating is a result of the City's sustained improvement in its financial position and performance, specifically; the upgrade reflects the water and sewer system's improved financial position due to increased revenues. Other rating factors considered by Moody's Investors Service include, Westland's debt coverage ration and residential stability.

"My Administration, working with the Westland City Council, have made some critical moves to get our rating back up and it has paid off," said Mayor Wild. "Our next step is to put together a water and sewer capital improvement plan. In the long run, that plan, coupled with a better bond rating, will save the City considerable dollars that will result in more infrastructure improvement.
