Amy Friedman - Desperado's Wife

 

Amy Friedman is a writer, ghostwriter, editor and writing teacher. She has published several memoirs, including Desperado's Wife which was excerpted in the New York Times Modern Love column, landed her on the Katie Couric show and is currently being developed as a television series. Amy also writes the internationally syndicated column for children, Tell Me a Story and her essays have appeared in numerous anthologies and in magazines and newspapers. In 2013 she co-authored Anne Willan's memoir, the IACP Award winning One Souffle at a Time: A Memoir of Food and France. Amy teaches memoir and personal essay at UCLA Extension, Idyllwild School of the Arts, at the Skirball Cultural Arts Center and privately. With her husband, the writer Dennis Danziger, she founded the nonprofit P.O.P.S. the club for high school students whose lives have been touched by prison.www.amyfriedman.net

Samantha Dunn - Women on the Edge: Writing from Los Angeles

 

Samantha Dunn is the author of Failing Paris, a finalist for the PEN West Fiction Award in 2000, and the memoirs Not By Accident: Reconstructing a Careless Life--a BookSense 76 pick--and Faith in Carlos Gomez: A Memoir of Salsa, Sex and Salvation. Her work is anthologized in a number of places, including the short story anthology, Women on the Edge: Writing from Los Angeles, which she co-edited.Samantha's work has been featured in national publications, including O (Oprah) Magazine, Ms., and Salon. A longtime instructor in the UCLA Extension Writers Program, she also teaches at the Idyllwild Arts Center and conducts seminars with Cheryl Strayed and Pam Houston at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. Sam is the founder of The Workshop, a private workshop series offering intensive sessions in creative nonfiction, memoir and essay, conducted throughout Southern California and nationally.  www.samanthadunn.net

Leslie Lehr - What Mother Knows

 

Leslie Lehr is a manuscript consultant and the prizewinning author of six books, including her literary thriller, What A Mother Knows. She speaks at conferences from New Orleans to Newport Beach and teaches at the Writers Program at UCLA as well as for Truby Writers Studio. Her essays have appeared in the New York Times' Modern Love column, HuffPost Parents, and anthologies such as Mommy Wars (2007), The Honeymoon's Over (2007), and On Becoming Fearless (2007). She is the screenwriter of the romantic thriller, Heartless, and wrote Club Divorce for Lifetime. Leslie has a B.A. from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and an M.F.A. from Antioch University.
