Jazz Bliss Brazil is an exciting eclectic ensemble pulsating with the vibrancy of classic American Jazz and the music of the Americas - chiefly Brazil. The quintet features the warm and engaging Carol Bach-y-Rita, singing in both Portuguese and English, and the lyrical saxophone & flute of Robert Kyle. Joining them are guitarist Mitchell Long, bassist Hussain Jiffry, and drummer/percussionist Walter Rodriguez - three of the brightest stars on the "World Music" scene.

The City of West Hollywood presents Trouble in Chiozza by Carlo Goldoni with translation by Robert Hoyem, directed by Louis Fantasia. Set in a rustic Italian fishing village, this rollicking romp is about two rival families with daughters of marrying age and the young fishermen who come to court them.  Admission free. The City of West Hollywood in collaboration with OUTFEST presents the screening of BrideGroom. Director Linda Bloodworth Thomason ("Designing Women") navigates the romantic highs of Tom and Shane's relationship - until tragedy strikes. A remarkable feature about love, loss and the courage to stand up for same-sex equality, the film has won the Heineken Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. Taking its name from the notorious Frank Lloyd Wright quip, "Tip the world on its side, and everything loose will land in Los Angeles", Everything Loose Will Land argues that L.A.'a infamous "looseness" provided a medium for exciting developments in art and architecture.

 

William Sweetlove Exhibition

An outdoor exhibition of colorful and joyous animal sculptures by Belgian artist William Sweetlove will grace the Santa Monica Blvd.  near Barney's Beanery.

Presented as part of the One City One Pride Queer Arts Festival, this was the first full exhibition about the LGBT community to be shown at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Alabama, whose mission is to promote civil and human rights worldwide through education. The public display of the work marked photographer Carolyn Sherer's "coming out" and that of a number of other participants. This exhibit will be on display through Wednesday, July 10, 2013 during regular operating hours at the West Hollywood Library. (M-Th 11-7, Fr-Sa 10-6).

Arts Participation Grant: Arts Participation Grants support arts projects developed by education, social service, or community-based organizations in which art is not the primary mission of the organization or art projects developed by nonprofit arts organizations whose annual budget is less than $25,000. Arts Participation Grants can be applied for at any time of the year, subject to grant funds available. 
  
City Arts Project Grants: City Arts Project Grants support the production, performance or presentation of art projects that serve the West Hollywood community. The City will award no more than twelve (12) 2014 City Arts Project Grants, and the maximum award any organization may receive under this grant is $7,000. Please note: Organizations who received funding in the 2013 arts grant cycle are not eligible for funding in the 2014 arts grant cycle. Organizations receiving funding in the 2014 grant cycle will not be eligible for funding during the 2015 grant cycle.


Cultural Resource Development Grants: Cultural Resource Development Grants support arts organizations with budgets under $75,000 and an interest in strengthening their organization's infrastructure. The City will award five (5) Cultural Resource Development Grants and the maximum award any organization may receive under this grant is $2,000 with an additional $1,000 of nonprofit arts consulting provided to assist organizations with board development, fundraising, marketing, grant writing or other area of organizational development.
