AC Launches 40th Anniversary Scholarship Fund for Underserved U.S. Undergrads
This year, American Councils for International Education celebrates 40 years of connecting peoples and cultures around the world. To launch our 5th decade, we are hosting a year-long program of festivities to recognize our outstanding alumni and to celebrate our work in international education, academic exchange, and overseas language immersion.
To mark the milestone, American Councils and its Board of Trustees are proud to announce the creation of a new scholarship fund: the 40th Anniversary Scholarship Fund. Read more

NSLI-Y Application Deadline: October 30
The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y), sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by American Councils, provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students and recent high school graduates to learn less commonly taught languages in summer and academic-year overseas immersion programs.

YES Exchange Alum Shines with #English
Week Workshop in Pakistan
YES Exchange alum Moiz Rehan is helping young students in Pakistan's rural area of Pallandri--a small town in the province of Kashmir--learn English. Moiz, who studied in the U.S. and lived with an American host family as a part of the YES program in the 2012-2013 academic year, is also a member alum of the Workshop for Youth Leaders in Teaching English (WYLTE), sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. African Languages Initiative Students Meet "Hero" Rats in Mozambique
African Languages Initiative (AFLI) Portuguese students arrived at a laboratory in Eduardo Mondlane University's College of Veterinary Medicine in Maputo, Mozambique and were introduced to three African pouched rats the size of small dogs who are being trained to detect tuberculosis in locations such as Maputo. These rats were initially used as mine-detectors in countries like Mozambique, Tanzania, and Namibia. Read more

Kazakh Students Prepare for U.S. University Admissions
This summer, the Education USA Advising Center in Almaty, Kazakhstan held a weeklong Undergraduate College Preparation Summer Camp for 21 high school students from South Kazakhstan Oblast. During the Camp, these students-who came from the south capital and small villages all around the city-acquired knowledge and skills to aid them in the admissions process for U.S. universities. Kosovo American Education Fund Celebrates 10 Years of Merit-Based Scholarships
This week marks the arrival of seven students who will begin their studies in some of the country's most prestigious university graduate programs. Over the last ten years, the Kosovo American Education Fund or KAEF has awarded 64 merit-based scholarships to students who have distinguished themselves with high academic achievement and who have returned to Kosovo after their graduate studies and have achieved success in business, government, and the arts. YES Abroad Alumni Collaborate in D.C.
In September, 24 Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Abroad alumni flew in from across the U.S. for an intensive weekend workshop in Washington, D.C. The alumni were awarded travel funds in a competitive process to participate in the workshop, which focused on alumni association and professional development, and provided the opportunity for alumni from the four years of the program to meet and collaborate.
